Taking inspiration from photographs taken of the original Resonance pocket watch made by Breguet and delivered to the Prince Regent in 1818, this piece created using Staedtler drawing pens, pencil and three layers of gold leaf attempts to present elements of the movement and engine turned dial in semi-abstract form. Even though I have a particular fondness for unfathomable horological complexity, my preferred approach is to create an interpretation of the movement's function rather than a facsimile.
The drawing is presented on A0 cartridge paper (approximately 841 x 1189 mm or 33.1 x 46.8 inches). Some ripples and waves in the paper can be seen in the images due to multiple applications of gilding size.
Includes insured, international shipping. If you are UK based please be in touch about framing options.
The drawing can be viewed by appointment in London.
